In 1986, now professional Durban based photographer Sally Blackman, was paging through a magazine admiring and taking careful note of the photography, when she decided that she wanted to make photography her career. After studying photography at the Natal Technikon from 1988 to 1990 she graduated with a national diploma. In 1991 she departed for London, where she opened a studio in Oxford Street, specialising in advertising and portraiture remaining here until 1994 and returning to South Africa in May of that year. She continued to specialise in commercial advertising and weddings and travelled South Africa extensively on shoots. In the year 2000 she photographed her last wedding and began focusing her attention on fashion, beauty and advertising work. For the next eight years she photographed for a variety of clients and added film production to her ever growing portfolio. She gained further experience on the sets of TV commercials, movies and documentaries. In 2009 she branched into offering portraiture of families and boudoir photography. After years of experience Sally still maintains a passion and love for the work that she does.
