King’s Grant offers a unique setting that will capture the essence of your historical moment. Visit King’s Grant and….
Experience the charm and ambience of King’s Grant, the historical mission station now restored and converted into a delightful country lodge with a tranquil village atmosphere. Tucked into a hidden valley in the rolling hills of Ixopo in Southern Kwazulu-Natal, guests are invited to take a step back in time, explore the history of the Trappist Monks and enjoy the slow pace of country life.
The quaint chapel, with a stately gothic-style spire above the bell-tower and original stained glass windows, stands at the heart of the village and is ideal for small and intimate ceremonies of up to 70 people. After the ceremony, guests can enjoy refreshments in the Millworks and then follow the well-trodden red brick path through the gardens to the Tuscan style Banquet Hall with arched windows and barn doors opening on to the courtyard with a three tiered fountain.
Alternatively, couples can choose to ‘say I do’ in the gardens or at the rustic Brickfield buildings overlooking a dam teeming with birds. Amazing and ‘out of the ordinary’ photographic opportunities abound with the red brick buildings, the Blacksmith Workshop for the gents, the gardens and the farm lands.
Fourteen guestrooms, in what were originally the monk’s and nun’s quarters, accommodate up to 30 guests. Each room has a private patio and is equipped with tea trays, DSTV bouquet, heaters, fans, electric blankets and free Wi-Fi hotspots.
